Why build multiple roads when you can just violently compress traffic? Multiplexing takes several separate, simultaneous signals and mashes them together to travel over a single shared medium. Once the jumbled megasignals reach the destination, a demultiplexer systematically tears them back apart, delivering the individual streams to their correct endpoints as if nothing happened.
