Jeff Steitzer recorded his unimaginably iconic multiplayer voice lines for the original Halo game while sitting in a closet, trying desperately not to wake up his sleeping family; the deep, booming voice that would eventually echo through millions of college dorm rooms screaming Double Kill and Killtacular was originally tracked by a guy just doing a goofy monster voice in a highly cramped space surrounded by winter coats; the developers initially intended for the announcer to sound incredibly serious and militaristic, but Steitzer decided to just lean heavily into a bombastic, over-the-top stadium announcer vibe that instantly became legendary, making it fantastic that the single most recognizable audio cue for aggressive teenage digital dominance was spawned by a polite dad whispering into a microphone next to some mothballs
