Those weird black dots framing your windshield aren't just there to block the sun from your eyes. Known as 'frits,' they are actually ultra-tough ceramic paint baked directly into the glass. They provide a rough surface for the adhesive sealant to grip onto, keeping the glass attached to the frame. Without them, your windshield would basically just flop out onto the pavement.
