While you carry around a massive metal water bottle just to walk to the grocery store, the kangaroo rat perfectly survives the blazing desert without ever taking a sip. Their kidneys are incredibly efficient at pulling every micro-drop of moisture out of dry seeds. They literally metabolize their own internal hydration out of pure dry carbohydrates.
