A closer look
Giraffes have the exact same number of neck vertebrae as humans do, they are just stretched out to an absolutely ridiculous length. Both species have seven cervical bones, but while ours let us nod during painfully boring meetings, theirs are a foot long each and allow them to fight by violently swinging their heads at each other like medieval flails. Evolution did not give them extra parts, it just took the standard mammalian blueprint and dragged the dimensions in Photoshop until it looked hilarious. It proves that nature is incredibly lazy and prefers to just scale things up rather than write new code. A giraffe is just a horse that discovered the stretch tool and made it its entire personality
