If a hacker manages to compromise a computer's low-level firmware, they effectively own the machine before the operating system even has a chance to boot up. Google refused to tolerate this vulnerability in their data centers, so they soldered a microscopic custom security vault called the Titan chip directly onto their motherboards. Before the main processor is even allowed to draw power, the Titan chip physically intercepts the boot process, aggressively interrogating the startup code to ensure the cryptographic signatures match Google's exact specifications. If it detects even a single unauthorized line of code, it outright refuses to let the machine turn on, perfectly executing a zero-trust hardware blockade.
