Rowling years before the final Harry Potter books were ever published, just so he could play the character accurately. Rickman spent an entire decade wandering around sets in a flowing black cape, acting like an absolute terror to child actors while secretly knowing he was actually playing the most tragically heroic double agent in literary history. It must have been incredibly satisfying for the veteran actor to look down at a terrified young Daniel Radcliffe, internally laughing at the fact that he was guarding the biggest plot twist of the twenty-first century entirely by himself
