A closer look
The cockpit of a multi-million dollar stealth jet looks glamorous, but that shimmering yellow hue isn't there for luxury. The glass is actually impregnated with a microscopic layer of genuine vaporized gold or indium tin oxide. Why? Because the chaotic, angular inside of a cockpit is incredibly reflective to enemy radar waves, turning the pilot into a giant flying target. The gold film essentially creates an electromagnetic shield, bouncing radar away before it can enter the cockpit and betray the jet's location.
