In a rare instance of a wildly successful author not hoarding every penny, Barrie gifted the absolute copyright of Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Since 1929, the hospital has received royalties from every stage production and publication of the boy who wouldn't grow up, though a special act of Parliament keeps the total amount earned a strict secret.
