Modern trash disposal is actually a feat of highly secure geological mummification. To prevent garbage juice from poisoning the local groundwater, a massive pit is carved out and lined with dense, compacted clay. Over that, engineers weld thick sheets of high-density plastic to form an impenetrable bowl. The trash is dumped inside, crushed flat by tractors, and permanently sealed with dirt every single night.
