If you've ever wondered why daytime dramas look like everyone is casually standing inside a nuclear blast, it's a desperate masking technique. Because these shows shoot dozens of pages a day, the sets are incredibly flimsy and cheaply painted. Flooding the entire room with a massive, flat wash of light completely eliminates the dramatic shadows that would reveal the wrinkles in the terrible wallpaper.
