Men getting kicked in the testicles hurts so much because the groin is packed with an absurd density of sensitive nerve endings that connect straight to the stomach. Unlike other organs that are safely tucked away behind ribs or thick layers of muscle, evolution decided to hang human reproductive organs outside the body in a thin, unprotected sack. When an impact occurs, the pain signals shoot up the spermatic plexus and hit the abdomen, causing terrible nausea, sweating, and a desperate desire for the sweet release of death. It is an objectively terrible design flaw that leaves half the population vulnerable to incapacitation by a stray soccer ball or an enthusiastic toddler. We have put rovers on Mars and mapped the human genome, but we are still stuck with reproductive biology that treats a minor tap like a catastrophic internal explosion
