Reality TV thrives on backstabbing, and the camera setup is actively designed to enable it. The 'confessional' booths in shows like 'Survivor' are explicitly filmed using a dead-center, tight medium shot with the producer completely out of frame to strip away all visual context. This manipulative framing technique forces the contestant to stare slightly off-camera into a black void, creating a faux sense of intimate secrecy that psychologically tricks them into spilling deeply toxic gossip they would never say at camp.
