The Hobbit's high frame rate made audiences nauseous

Director Peter Jackson thought shooting at 48 frames per second would make his fantasy epic look wonderfully hyper-realistic. Instead, the crystal-clear, overly smooth motion made audiences deeply nauseous, complaining that it looked like a cheap soap opera. It turns out the human brain actually prefers its imaginary dragons slightly blurry.
