A closer look
President William Howard Taft allegedly got his massive three-hundred-and-forty-pound frame completely wedged into a White House bathtub and had to be unceremoniously pried out with butter by his humiliated staff. While modern historians desperately try to debunk this deeply embarrassing rumor, it is absolute fact that Taft actually commissioned a custom-built, one-ton porcelain bathtub large enough to comfortably fit four adult men. The gigantic bathing apparatus was specifically installed on a naval warship just to accommodate his oceanic proportions during a diplomatic trip to the Panama Canal. Whether or not he actually got stuck like a cork in a bottle, dedicating federal infrastructure funds simply to ensure the commander-in-chief doesn't displace all the water in the bathroom is an objectively hilarious abuse of executive privilege
