The very first recorded dentist in human history wasn't a doctor, but an Egyptian scribe named Hesy-Re, who lived over 4,600 years ago. His official tomb inscription prominently proudly dubs him the 'Greatest of those who deal with teeth.' Apparently, managing royal taxes didn't pay the bills quite as well as dealing with the horrific abscesses of pharaohs who ate sand-filled bread.
