Selfies originally required serious upper body strength. Long before Apple put three lenses on a slab of glass, a Kodak engineer named Steve Sasson built the first digital camera. It weighed 8 pounds, recorded 0.01-megapixel images onto a cassette tape, and took 23 seconds to capture a single photo. Kodak naturally shelved the tech because they sold film.
