Prop firearms are heavily plugged to prevent actual firing

Despite looking incredibly deadly on camera, a properly secured prop weapon is little more than a complicated metal paperweight. To appease safety coordinators, real firearms used as non-firing props have their heavy barrels permanently plugged with hardened steel pins or lead. They are physically incapable of chambering a real round, rendering them entirely useless for anything but striking a dramatic pose.
