You cannot simply back a dump truck of random wilderness dirt into a pristine studio without bringing in a massive colony of bugs, molds, and horrifying bacteria. Prop dirt is meticulously sterilized, sifted, and sometimes baked in massive industrial ovens before it is allowed near the talent. That gritty, dirty trench they are hiding in is ironically cleaner than most kitchen floors.
