Inattentional blindness is the failure to notice a fully visible, but unexpected object because your attention was engaged on another task. If you are instructed to count basketball passes in a video, you will completely miss the guy in a gorilla suit walking through the middle of the screen. Our visual perception is shockingly narrow, filtering out massive chunks of reality just to keep our tiny brains from crashing. It proves that human eyewitness testimony is basically worthless, and you are confidently hallucinating your way through a world you only perceive ten percent of anyway
