Mass Effect’s alien languages began with animal noises

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

When you're trying to seduce a charming alien in BioWare's sprawling sci-fi epic, you're actually just listening to zoo enclosures. The iconic clicking sounds of the Turians and the weird ambient noises of the other alien races were made by sound designers mashing up stock audio of raccoons, bears, and bugs. Romance in space is basically just flirting with digitally filtered roadkill.
