Logging off usually means you're safe, but multiplayer survival games weaponized sleep. In Rust, closing the game leaves your character unconscious on the floor of whatever makeshift shack you built. This persistent physical presence completely hijacks the crafting loop, forcing players to obsessively farm resources just to upgrade their walls from wood to stone before they go to bed in real life, terrified that a naked man with a rock will bash down their door at 3 AM and steal all their virtual beans.
