Being the absolute king sounds great until you realize it means aggressively dealing with angry mobs. During the July Revolution of 1830, his father quickly abdicated the throne, technically making Louis the king. After listening to his screaming, riotous subjects for a mere 20 minutes, Louis aggressively signed his own resignation and fled the country.
