Solid iron constitutes the dense inner core of Earth
Despite being over 9,000 degrees Fahrenheit—which is easily hot enough to melt any metal—Earth's inner core remains stubbornly solid. The pressure down there is over three million times greater than at the surface, squishing the iron atoms so tightly together that they physically cannot melt. It's essentially a giant, blazing-hot cage match of physics.
