Magma gets a new name at the surface

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Scientists apparently love semantic pedantry. Molten rock pooling underground is strictly called 'magma.' But the absolute second it breaches the surface and touches the air, it rebrands itself as 'lava.' Nothing about its chemical composition magically changes at that boundary; it just gets a cooler name for the media.
