Crocodiles do not experience negligible senescence, which is a fancy scientific way of saying they do not physically age or progressively deteriorate over time in the same pathetic, predictable manner that mammals do. Instead of dying from old age, frail bones, or failing immune systems, these prehistoric, heavily armored water tanks simply keep growing endlessly until they eventually starve to death because they cannot catch enough food to sustain their massive bulk, or contract a fatal disease. It is both awe-inspiring and terrifying to realize the only thing stopping these scaly, cold-blooded murder logs from eventually growing to the size of a city bus is their own biological inability to maintain a high enough calorie count
