Millions of highly superstitious Russian commuters aggressively rub the dog's bronze nose for good luck every single day as they rush past, slowly polishing the metallic snout until it gleams like pure gold. It is genuinely touching to know that beneath a massive city, inside a transit network built as a monument to austere communist efficiency, people just really want to pet the imaginary metallic dog. Clearly, no amount of geopolitical tension or cold war philosophy can ever eradicate the fundamental human instinct to gently boop the snoot of a loyal canine companion on the way to the office
