Buenos Aires has Latin America’s oldest operating subway

While most people associate historical subways with London or New York, the Subte in Buenos Aires has been shuttling grumpy commuters since 1913. Some of the original wooden train cars were actually kept in service for an astonishing 100 years before finally being retired in 2013, proving that public transit infrastructure is basically immortal if you refuse to fund new ones.
