A missing path can turn the park into a maze

In RollerCoaster Tycoon, paths are more than scenery: they form the routes guests use to move around the park. A guest who arrives at a ride or attraction needs a connected path to get there—and a continuous route back to the entrance to leave. Delete a key section, and that route can vanish even though the guest is still walking around inside the park.

The trap is in the layout

The game does not require a locked gate or a special trap. A gap between path tiles is enough to cut off the route. Guests on the stranded side can keep wandering, but they cannot walk across empty ground to reconnect with the entrance. They may realize they are lost and become unhappy, while the player sees the consequences in their complaints and park statistics.

Reconnect the path and they can find their way out; leave the break in place and the simulation has no ordinary walking route for them to escape. The joke works because the park’s cheerful surface hides a simple rule: if the route network has no connection to the entrance, a guest can be stuck inside their own amusement park.
