Forensic science has reached the point of outright witchcraft. Researchers do not even need bones anymore to find extinct human species; they are pulling ancient hominin DNA straight out of the dirt. Deep inside Siberia’s Denisova Cave, scientists realized microscopic genetic fragments from Neanderthals and Denisovans were perfectly preserved in the mud where they peed, bled, and decayed tens of thousands of years ago. It is essentially sweeping the floor to reconstruct an entire ghost species.
