Instead of waiting for a protein to regulate gene expression, the RNA strand itself folds into a complex 3D pocket. The moment a specific metabolite, like a vitamin, binds to this pocket, the entire RNA structure violently contorts. This shapeshifting immediately halts nutrient production, proving biology’s most primal molecules can regulate themselves.
