Slicing cones at specific angles produces pure ellipses

If you take a perfect cone and slice it straight across, you get a boring circle. But if you slice it at a slight slant, you expose an ellipse. This perfectly smooth, stretched circle is intrinsically hidden inside the straight walls of the cone. It mathematically connects harsh, pointed pyramids with smooth orbital curves in one simple, diagonal cut.
