A closer look
Firing compressed air into a specifically shaped tube causes a bizarre thermodynamic split. The air is forced into a violent cyclone; the outer layers of the vortex spin intensely and generate massive friction, becoming scalding hot. The inner core of the vortex loses its kinetic energy to the outer layer and cools drastically. By venting the two zones separately, you get a stream of freezing air and a stream of boiling air with literally zero moving parts.
