The glass that survives red-hot to ice-cold
Normal glass shatters violently if you even look at it with a warm beverage, but fused quartz is practically invincible. Manufactured by melting pure silica sand, it has almost zero thermal expansion. You can heat a fused quartz crucible with a blowtorch until it is blindingly bright red, instantly dunk it into a bucket of ice water, and it will not even crack. It entirely ignores thermal shock.
