A closer look
Sometimes the bar for being perceived as a living god is astonishingly low. The leader of the infamous Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo gained his initial massive following in the 1980s by publishing a photo in an occult magazine that proved he could 'levitate.' If you look at the photo for more than three seconds, it is painfully obvious he is just sitting cross-legged and doing a really hard hop. Thousands saw this blurry jumping man and decided, 'Yes, I will join this death cult.'
