Why old beach huts had wheels

Those brightly colored, overpriced wooden shacks lining the sand were born from sheer prudishness. In the 19th century, people were utterly terrified of being seen in their bathing costumes. The original huts even had wheels so they could be rolled directly into the water, ensuring absolutely no one accidentally saw an exposed ankle on the shoreline.
