HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

You can't normally see invisible gases mixing, but Schlieren optics aggressively disagree. By using a highly specialized mirror and a knife-edge setup to selectively block refracted light, this optical technique perfectly visualizes tiny changes in air density. It literally makes the invisible thermal currents rising off a candle flame or a cold glass appear as stark, dramatic swirling shadows.
