Soap bubbles flash colors due to distinct optical interference
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
A soap bubble is essentially just incredibly thin, soapy liquid trying desperately not to pop. When light hits it, some reflects off the outer surface while the rest sneaks through and bounces off the inner surface. These slightly out-of-sync light waves aggressively collide with each other, canceling out certain wavelengths to project those swirling, hypnotic rainbow colors.
