How an oil puddle makes a rainbow

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

A dirty puddle in a parking lot suddenly looks like a beautiful psychedelic art piece purely because of optical physics. A microscopic layer of spilled oil sitting on top of the water forces incoming light to bounce off both the oil and the water beneath it simultaneously. The conflicting reflections clash aggressively, canceling out various wavelengths to paint vivid rainbows on the asphalt.
