How cereal becomes stars and rings

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Breakfast cereal does not naturally grow in the shape of miniature stars or tiny rings. Factories take a thick, aggressively unappetizing sludge of grain and force it through high-pressure, heated metal tubes. As the compressed dough violently blasts out the other side into normal air pressure, the moisture flashes to steam, permanently puffing it into geometric shapes.
