A closer look

If humanity ever relocates to Mars, our circadian rhythms are going to be mildly but permanently infuriated. A single rotation of Mars (called a 'sol') takes 24 hours, 39 minutes, and 35 seconds. This is just similar enough to Earth to feel normal, but just long enough that your daily schedule will continuously drift. NASA engineers working on Mars rovers actually have to wear specialized watches and slowly shift their sleep schedules forward every single day, essentially living in a state of perpetual cosmic jet lag.
