Earth is the odd planet out in its name
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
Humanity looked at Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, branded them with the epic titles of ancient mythological deities, and then named our own home 'dirt.' The word Earth simply stems from old English and Germanic root words meaning ground or soil. It’s the linguistic equivalent of having five kids named Apollo, Athena, Ares, Hercules, and... Bob.
