Why washing machines hide concrete inside

There is a very primitive reason your appliance doesn't violently walk itself out of the laundry room during the spin cycle. To counteract the immense centrifugal force of wet clothes spinning at high velocities, engineers literally bolt massive slabs of cheap concrete to the outer drum. This raw ballast successfully weighs the entire unit down, preventing it from shaking your house entirely apart.
