Pac-Man has a specific safe zone in the original arcade maze where the ghosts will simply never find you due to a rigid pathfinding algorithm. If you move to a specific tile in the top right quadrant while facing up, the ghosts will endlessly circle the maze, completely incapable of targeting your yellow avatar. Creator Toru Iwatani designed the ghosts with distinct personalities and targeting systems to prevent the game from feeling monotonous, but he inadvertently left a massive mathematical blind spot in their artificial intelligence.
