A closer look
Peruvian authorities employ a resident herd of llamas to act as natural lawnmowers for the historic ruins of Machu Picchu. Rather than hauling heavy gas-powered landscaping equipment up the Andes mountains and ruining the ancient aesthetic with the sound of weed whackers, they let these majestic, aggressively spitting camelids graze the terraces. Not only do they keep the grass perfectly manicured for oblivious influencers trying to get the perfect yoga pose, but they also provide an authentic, eco-friendly photo op. If you get too close to their turf, however, you will quickly discover that these fluffy landscapers have absolutely zero respect for personal space and will launch a projectile of half-digested grass directly into your face without a single ounce of remorse
