Futurama writer Ken Keeler literally invented and published a brand new mathematical theorem specifically to resolve a plot hole in an episode about characters constantly swapping bodies. Keeler, who holds a doctorate in applied mathematics, decided that instead of just using lazy cartoon magic to fix the problem, he would write an actual group theory proof. It is incredibly embarrassing for the rest of television writers that a guy created a legitimate contribution to human scientific knowledge just to get a fictional robot out of a trashcan's body during a twenty-minute comedy show
