A closer look

Mel Blanc was forced to chew on raw carrots while recording the voice of Bugs Bunny because celery and other vegetables just didn't sound right on microphone. Since Blanc actually hated the taste of carrots, he would chew them up, deliver his iconic catchphrase, and immediately spit the orange mush into a nearby trash can. Entire generations of children were brainwashed into thinking rabbits loved carrots and that eating them was cool, all based on a voice actor who found them absolutely repulsive. The magic of classic animation is completely reliant on a grown man dramatically spitting vegetables into a bucket in a stuffy recording booth. It makes you realize that all of our cherished childhood memories are just the result of underpaid voice actors enduring mild discomfort to sell cinema tickets and eventually pave the way for an empire built on overpriced theme park merchandise
