A closer look
Before he became history's most confusing prophet, he was basically a medieval pharmacist pushing rose petals. Michel de Nostredame is famous for his apocalyptic visions, but his day job was working as an apothecary during the bubonic plague. His most popular product was a 'rose pill' made from crushed rose petals, cloves, and sawdust, which he prescribed to cure the Black Death. Shockingly, eating sawdust did not cure a catastrophic bacterial infection, forcing him to pivot to the much more lucrative career of writing terribly vague poetry.
