Cabaret Voltaire birthed the chaotic Dada movement
In 1916, a group of artists disgusted by WWI decided that since the world made no sense, art shouldn't either. They opened a nightclub in Zurich where people performed absolute nonsense, like screaming sound poems and wearing bizarre geometric shapes. It spawned the entire Dada movement, proving that throwing a terrible tantrum in a bar can change art history.
