A closer look
Martial arts legend Bruce Lee moved so incredibly fast during his fight sequences that directors actually had to ask him to slow down because the standard twenty-four frames per second cameras could not capture his strikes; while most action stars require clever editing, stunt doubles, and sped-up footage to look somewhat competent on screen, Lee had the completely opposite problem since the man was literally too swift for the technological limitations of mid-twentieth-century cinema, acting as an absolutely massive flex to have a Hollywood director tell you that your physical capabilities are breaking their expensive equipment, meanwhile contemporary action stars rely on forty-three jump cuts just to successfully hop over a chain-link fence without tearing a hamstring, showing we really went from a guy who casually shattered the laws of physics with his bare hands to Liam Neeson needing a dozen different camera angles just to perform the basic human action of sitting down in a desk chair
